The dam was built in 1688 on Vauban’s plans. It was used during the siege of Strasbourg in 1870, causing flooding of the upstream neighborhoods.

Amazing view of the famous bridges in Strasbourg. Beautiful and picturesque, especially at night. Very easy to reach by public transport and lots of restaurants around as well. Highly recommended!

Don't miss the view from the rooftop (stairs at the end of the corridor) over Strasbourg's rooftops and well kept by medieval towers. Used to be a barrage to waterflood all the area upstream.

Sur le toit-terrasse, la plus belle vue sur Strasbourg. On the roof-terrasse, the most beautifull view over Strasbourg.
