For 2018, the best Maine golf courses to play, according to reviews on Golf Advisor, were, in order, Sunday River in Newry, Rockland, Riverside Golf Course (North Course) in Portland, Sugarloaf Golf and Club and Resort in Kingfield and Belgrade Lakes in Belgrade. Rockland, a 6,071-yard, par-70 public course, was rated four of five stars, as 28 reviewers gave it five stars, 26 four stars and four three stars, among those who reviewed the course. In fact, 94.1 percent of those who played the course, recommended it. The course ratings, by reviewers (with 5 stars the maximum), included: Conditions 4.2, value 4.6, layout 4, friendliness 4.9, pace 4.7 and amenities 3.9.
