if you travel south to Simonstown , the train takes you along the coast line , right on the sea edge . you can get off and on at any of the stops and enjoy the restaurants and bars and beaches . Be sure to buy a first class ticket and get on the first class carriages . The train is generally safe just be sure to keep an eye on personal belonging and to not flash them around .

Take a train trip along the coast to Simonstown. See penguins at Boulders Beach, and on the way back hop off at St. James at the tidal pool or in Kalk Bay for a shopping stroll to Dalebrook beach.
