At high tide the beach disappears to check before heading down. Park at the top of Polruan in the car park then walk down the hill to the quay. Alternatively it can be reached by the pedestrian ferry from Fowey. Swimming is good - just keep an eye out for passing boats entering the harbour. Toilets, cafe, shops and 2 pubs are nearby.

This is not a castle... grr, that's what it's written down as to get it to appear on this map. It's actually a blockhouse which was linked to an identical one on the Fowey side of the river by a chain. The chain would be raised to stop invading or dubious ships.
