In a small town in the municipality of Castelnuovo Garfagnana, between the hills and mountains of the Regional Park of the Apuan Alps, at the end of the 1950s the project for the construction of a memorial was approved which would remind future generations of the tribute of lives that the people of Garfagnana had paid during the wars fought in the twentieth century: not only the two world wars, but also the colonial businesses in Africa forcefully entered the lives of hundreds of families.
