Umiam lake is on the way to Shillong from Guwahati. Sunrise and sunset are delight to watch. One can stay overnight at Orchid lake resort or can spend the day and move forward to Shillong as it's hardly 15 kms away from Shillong. Must visit this place to watch the different moods of day. water sports areain attraction of this place.

This is a gorgeous lake created by damming the Umiam river. You can find it en route between Guwahati and Shillong. The lake is a major tourist attraction and also a spot for people to try water sports like kayaking or boating.
