Food Scene

Steps from your door, when you exit the PB Hotel Condo, take a right (west) and walk a few steps to the end of the building. When you see the sign for PB Catch Seafood Restaurant on your right, take a left, go across the street, and there you will find an unmarked outdoor hallway that leads straight to the entrance to Publix, a local grocer with a great deli, sushi department, wine aisle, imported cheeses, pharmacy, and pretty much anything you need. There isn't a sign that says Publix, until you get to the front door. Palm Beach is rather picky about merchant signs, but this is a big beautiful grocery store with lots of great things.

Old school Palm Beach, this historic restaurant goes back to the days of WW II and is where the famous "rat pack" hung out, along with the likes of Joe Kennedy and Gloria Swanson. Try the pistachio encrusted salmon, and the coconut lust for desert. Seriously, even people who don't like coconut swoon for this dessert. Great for lunch or dinner.

Perhaps the only chain restaurant on Palm Beach, this is a Landry's Seafood Restaurant, one of the few spots with ocean front view. Try the Stone Crabs in season (winter months), this is a real Florida delicacy.

A slick, open kitchen, locals go here for drinks and dinner,. While I hesitate to call it a "pick up scene", because it is high end and the food is really good, it is also known by locals as a place for meeting new people at the bar. If that's not your scene, don't let this put you off, as it's a very nice restaurant and the food is superb.

Love him or hate him, this is the winter home of Donald Trump. Also a private club, anyone can gain admission if they are willing to pay a "huge" amount of money. Buy a ticket to a charity ball to get in, and expect to pay over $500 per ticket. Originally winter home of the heir to the Post Cereal empire, owned by Marjorie Merriweather Post, who built it to entertain her guests for a mere six weeks of each year. It later fell to rack and ruin, and was rescued and restored by the Donald, who added the Mar-a-Lago Club, the 1st on PB that is non-discriminatory, as long as you've got enough cash. Drive by for a look-see.

Shopping

Outdoor venue with shopping, night life, bars and restaurants. Located next to the Kravis Center, try City Cellar for great food, Copper Blues for a casual drink, Muvico Theatre for lots of movie choices. Also nearby is Clematis Street, you can catch a free trolley that circles around between CityPlace and Clematis Street, the original main street. Clematis St is a hotspot for night life with restaurants & bars, and a park. On Saturday mornings there's a Green Market where you can pick up all kinds of deliciousness, not just veggies, we're talking french bakery, acai bowls, Bar B Q, mimosas, cuban coffee and sandwiches, along with a beautiful view of the intracoastal waterway.

Well it's not just a furniture store that's four stories tall, there is a restaurant on the top floor with a veranda sporting spectacular views of the city and glass roof. You can go for a meal, a coffee, or just to check out the view. It's opened 10am to 8pm, try the lobster role with handcut fries.

Get some shopping in, stores and art galleries, everything from Saks and Nieman Marcus to Gucci, Pucci, Salvatore Ferragamo, Chanel, Tiffanies, Ralph Lauren, St. John. Be sure to duck into the "vias" little alleys that lead from the main street of worth avenue into hidden walkways with more shops, boutiques and art galleries. You can see world class art, for sale.

Sightseeing

A spectacular ocean front hotel with a spa, restaurants, golf, tennis, shopping, nightlife and more. Walking distance from Hotel Condo, do not miss this. My recommendation is to go all the way to the back of the hotel to the Seafood Bar, which is ocean view. The bar is a fish tank, so you can ponder the fish while sipping on a really special bloody mary with shrimp or bacon, or a generous pour of wine. It's quite expensive, but a drink and an order of truffle fries will get you the experience without breaking the bank. Also check out the Flagler Steak House in the golf course, ask to be seated on the veranda overlooking the lush golf course.

Arts & Culture

Henry Flagler was the man who started it all back in the guilded age. He was a Standard Oil titan who brought the railway and the Breaker's Hotel to Palm Beach, as well as many other historic hotels in Florida. His personal effects can be seen in this beautiful mansion filled with art and treasures. Walking distance from the Hotel Condo, get lunch or high tea served in the restaurant. From there, take a walk on the Lake Trail, ask a docent how to find it. The lake trail is a double wide path that runs along the intracoastal waterway for six miles up to the northern tip of Palm Beach. Only local know about it, walk or bike, spectacular views.

The Norton Art museum is located nearby in West Palm Beach, a five minute Uber away. Filled with world class art, currently under renovation, so you might just get free admission. Also great is the Ann Norton Sculptural Museum, just a few blocks away. Ann Norton was the muse and second wife of Norton, and in her home's gardens, she created and presented huge outdoor sculptures. The home fronts the intra-coastal waterway, overlooking Palm Beach. Beautiful way to spend a couple of hours on a nice day.
