Traditional Italian though slightly crazy. Good value pasta and pizzas and a specials menu that offers great variety. It is traditional in the sense that the staff will be chatting away loudly in Italian, the TV generally has Italian football on and the food is delicious.

Two venues (Fossgate and Goodramgate) serving good quality tapas. Fossgate has quite an industrial atmosphere as it is set in a modern building. Goodramgate is set in traditional old building so has more charm. Excellent service at both.

Another excellent tapas restaurant with a lively cocktail bar upstairs. You can't actually book so arrive early to reserve your place and then enjoy a pre-dinner drink in the bar upstairs.

Great lunch venue that has a simple but delicious menu. Lots of fresh interesting salads come with most meals. There are now three Lucky Days in York.

Enjoy a high tea or good selection of breakfast and lunch options at the famous Betty's. You can't book but have to join the queue and wait for your table. The queue does tend to move fairly quickly.
