Okay. Probably the best hot springs in Colorado with absolutely incredible and surprising views. Strawberry Hot Springs in Steamboat Springs may be better in other regards. BUT the catch is... NOT a lot of clothes at this place...okay... none. If you dare, it is really worth the visit. Need to book ahead.

Amazing beer selection with GREAT outdoor patio and GREAT food truck (get the truffle fries). They have heaters. Don't be fooled by the odd location! Try the Green Chili Beer. Local fav!

Great hidden gem off the main path - and in the cool part of "New South Main". Who would have known. Good for on the way in or out of Salida (in Buena Vista). Check out local artist Jess Crock's work (Golden). Patio seating. Great food for families too.

Kid Activities
Fun place for a tour with Peggy, owner of the farm. Feed the alpacas in person! They don't charge for tours but welcome donations - or even better - buy something form their little gift shop (hats, socks, stuffies, yarn, etc).

They don't have a great website - but they DO have pottery for kids to paint. They will fire it up for you, usually ready within a week or they can ship. Really fun to do even during COVID.

Great bike rides from easy (many options) to difficult. For a starter ride, we'd recommend starting at the most Western parking trail head where you can pick up "Spartan East Trail". Take this to to Little Rainbow if you want to go farther, and then you can take Spartan West back. For a REALLY fun ride downhill with lots of fun turns and small bumps (kids love), take the Solstice Trail DOWN (it's one way). It says difficult, but really its all downhill, no rocks etc, just twists and turns. Really fun. But get dropped off at trailhead to start so you don't have to bike back up. Don’t be fooled by the barren views up front. These are great hiking or biking trails. About 10 minutes up great rock formations and thicker juniper, piñon, and cottonwood cover. Good mix of easy to difficult trails (and some XX mountain biking tough ones if that’s your thing.”

Take a white water trip down this Canyon. Early spring mid summer has higher rapids, later summer much calmer depending on your choice. "Noah's Ark" or "River Runners", both good local outfits, can get you hooked up for a trip.

Great place for tubing over the waterfalls downtown. Bring life preserver for kids! Can also rent tubes or “duckies” and put in further up the river!
