15 minutes from our land, Garnet is simply a jewel of a lake in the Adirondacks. From an early morning paddle with mist wisping up and loons calling out, to picnics and swimming, Garnet also features a great road for a walk.

So cool and about 30 minutes from our land. Educational, great for kids and adults alike. Perfect for a half-day excursion. Oh, you'll pass an ice cream stand on the way in. Just sayin'. (Awesome gift shop too.)

Just a few minutes from our land. A short and medium challenge hike. Good for the experienced hiker or the very fit. There is a lake on top! Rumor has it that there is a Civil War trunk of Yankee soldier payroll in coins buried somewhere around here....

There are many stops for views along the way offering great rewards as you go! The shortest route to the summit is about 1.4 miles with an ascent of about 1150 feet. There is also a natural stone bridge over Putnam Brook.
Rocks, rocks and more rocks! Crane Mountain is a steep, rocky hike which makes it both challenging and more interesting for the little ones.
There are a few ladders near the summit of Crane Mountain that can be challenging for small children.
Tips for hiking Crane Mountain:
Wear shoes with excellent traction as the terrain is very rocky.
Dress in layers; this hike will get your heart pumping!
While this was a very steep climb, there is also a less-steep option that goes around the pond. We chose the steep climb up and the longer winding route past the pond on the way down.
Pay attention to trail markers - if you miss one, you may find yourself feeling lost.
Plan to make a day of it! For a family with relatively young children, this was a 4-hour hike.

Lake Pleasant (the actual lake) 's northern end is here. Lovely little beach, grassy pocket park, ice cream stand, Mountain Deli, and General Store all make this a lovely outing. Thursday afternoons in the summer also has the Farmers Market here

Our town! Has all you need from bank to groceries, pharmacy, dining from pizza and high-end plates, concerts and farmers market, boutique shops. It is modest and totally authentic.

The Lakes!
One of our favorite lakes. GREAT free public beach with ice cream nearby (Stewart's Shops). Big enough to be fun, super and clean public beach, not as over-run as Lake George, a fantastic place for a day of boating, beaching and picnicking.
