One of Havana’s first art deco homes, this 1920s mansion was commissioned by Pedro Baró as a gift to his love, Catalina Lasa. It’s a representation of modernity that holds true to Cuban colonial architectural history. I think it’s a must-see for the unique relationship between interior and exterior, and for the way the garden and landscape come together. You’re free to walk inside where there is a restaurant as well as a cafe. On weekends they often have live music. La Casa was built with such attention to detail that sand shipped in from the Nile was used to achieve the desired red tone of the entry columns.
