great to see all the butterflies and animals. Animal handling and feeding too
At Dobbies Garden Center you will find various interesting shops to go to after you visit the Butterflies. No 5 bus to Surgeons hall then No 3 to Dobbies.
The butterfly and insect world is a brilliant place for chilsren and adults alike. You get to handle snakes, spiders and all sorts of other reptiles. There is a coffee shop. It is just outside Edinburgh to the south.

“This is one of the finest surviving examples of a Victorian colliery in Europe. The highly rated visitor attraction is a twice winner of the Association of Scottish Visitor Attractions "Best Visitor Experience" Award. Visitors to the museum will marvel at the sheer size of the place, be astounded by the engineering brilliance behind all the machinery and retrace the footsteps of the thousands of miners that plied their trade within Newtongrange through the many interactive exhibitions. There is also a café which serves fresh food daily and a gift shop with bespoke souvenirs. Knowledgeable and personable guided tours are also available. Audio tour and self-guided options in English, Deutsch and Français.”

“Hotel, restaurant and spa. If you want to live it up like a King or Queen, this is the place to go. Beautiful surroundings and a falconry on site. ”

“Overlooking the beautiful River Esk in the tranquil conservation village of Lasswade in Midlothian, the Paper Mill is an airy, natural wood restaurant and bar with terrace, situated within a historic former paper mill. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, serving a range of modern European fare made from local produce.”

“We love the medium length walk beside the river - it's quiet and peaceful, and we've spotted deer in the woods. The cafe is usually pretty busy, but worth a visit. If you have children the Fort Douglas play area is great, although we think it's a little pricey - make sure you leave plenty of time to enjoy it.”
