As a tourist, a great starting point would be a visit to Edinburgh Castle. It’s a steep hike to get up there, but you will be rewarded with fabulous views of Edinburgh’s skyline... If you decide to go into the castle there is a charge and best to check the seasonal opening/closing times.
If you like history then Edinburgh castle can offer a lot. Great views from the top too!
Edinburgh Castle sits prominently above Edinburgh City and is easily accessible. There is an entry ticket, but if you there over St Andrews weekend (30 Oct - 1 Nov) you can often get free entry if you pre-book, subject to availability.
It was great learning about the history of the castle. There were some amazing views once you get up there. I loved seeing the crown jewels and the going through all of the history which led to them. Obviously this is a must see while in Edinburgh. There is also a nice place where you can get tea…
Quite expensive at £19 per adult but if you're interested in History then may be worth a look. You can walk up to the castle for free!
You can see the Castle from the flat window, its a must see for those that want to understand Scottish history
An obvious choice & a MUST SEE in Edinburgh! Its the same price to book there as it is online I think, but the queues can be crazy, so booking online can be handy & you can collect from self serve machines. You can experience a lot without paying to go in really as the views from the ramparts are…
