The Bear Mountain Butterfly Sanctuary is a prime spot for family outings and field trips. In addition to butterflies, the sanctuary is home to a variety of frogs and fish. The sanctuary has an education center and art room for children, along with a nature gift shop. In the Flutterarium, visitors can observe butterflies and learn how to hand-feed them. The sanctuary is also available as a space for birthday parties, and the establishment offers an entire birthday package that includes balloons, crafts, goody bags, and butterfly hatching kits

amazing. the workers were nice and were all vaccinated and wore masks. the show they have is great honestly and the butterfly garden is breathtaking. perfect for little kids. also the gift shop is great. i really loved this place and def recommend!!

Bring your questions, cameras, and curiosity and… Experience the wonder of live butterflies and exotic frogs in Jim Thorpe’s unique hands-on education center, featuring an indoor “Flutterarium” live butterfly flight room, Exotic frog room, Axolotls, turtles, fish, kids’ art space / activity room, and nature-based gift shop. Learn all about butterflies, watch a short video, enjoy a fascinating and fun educational program from our knowledgeable staff, meet live butterflies up close and personally, create happy memories and a craft to take home. A visit to the Sanctuary can be a metamorphosing experience! Lots of indoor fun! Great for a rainy day. Bear Mountain Butterfly Sanctuary is permitted by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service and strictly adheres to all regulations, requirements, and safeguards stipulated by such permits. We are licensed for butterfly and moth species indigenous to Pennsylvania and also Florida. No tropical species are permitted. As required, proctors will always be in an exhibition space when visitors are present and it is against Federal law for visitors to remove any live species from exhibit areas.
