“Jamie Oliver's industrial-style restaurant. Staff are disadvantaged youngsters learning the ropes of the restaurant business.”

“Good 'pub-plus' food among the locals in classic cafe-bistro type setting - next to tram 10”

“There is a lot to see and do in Amsterdam, all depending on your taste. If we were in the neighborhood, you could run into us and other locals at the small shopping center “Brazilië” at Oostelijke Handelskade (5 min walk). It has a Jumbo supermarket (cheaper), Albert Heijn supermarket (more expensive and fancier), Etos and Kruidvat drugstores, butcher, bakery (meh, Albert Heijn is better), liquor store, etc. o Tip 1: try some great Dutch herring, the famous street snack, at the fish store right here. Or get their also good “kibbeling” (fried cod) with sauce. o Tip 2: the Dutch street snack is of course french fries, to be bought at a snack bar. The snack bar “Kwalitaria” in the shopping center is the real deal. Make sure to get mayonaise on your fries, or peanut sauce. OR BOTH. Seriously. It’s called ‘patat oorlog’ (war fries) and comes with sprinkled raw onion (optional).”

“Our local Chinese restaurant around the corner. Delicious and you can also take away. Our tip: the lamp chops. ”

“A warehouse where they serve two specialities: steaks and pizza. Both are to die for. There is plenty of room for children to run around. The food is very honest, fresh and nutritious.”
