Lovely place to explore. Lots of museums, gardens, and beautiful Spanish architecture everywhere. Make sure to take the Balboa park walking tour. There is a paid and self-guided tour. Beautiful at night and don't forget to take amazing pictures.
One of the most popular urban parks in the United States, this bucolic paradise is packed with an array of attractions, including the world-famous San Diego Zoo.
Much to please the senses at Balboa Park! Museums are fantastic: SD Museum of Man, Reuben H. Fleet Science Center, SD Natural History Museum, SD Museum of Art, Japanese Friendship Garden, Mingei (has cool things made by people all over the world - currently closed for remodeling), Museum of…
Even spending one day here you won't see it all. Destination for many travelers is this one park.
The historical Balboa Park is where most of the museums in San Diego are located. Even if you don't wish to visit any museums, the park is nice to walk around as it features many gardens and fountains. We recommend grabbing a bite to eat at Panama 66 and letting the kids (if you have them) run…

“The San Diego Zoo is world famous for not only its exhibits but also for its contributions to the natural world. The Zoo, located adjacent to downtown San Diego in Balboa Park, is 100 acres in size. It is well known for its lush, naturalistic habitats and unique animal encounters and is home to more than 3,700 rare and endangered animals representing approximately 660 species and subspecies and a prominent botanical collection with more than 700,000 plants. It is viewed in several ways, first and foremost by walking along pathways, into aviaries, and through bioclimatic zones. There is a 35-minute Guided Bus Tour that gives a good overview of the Zoo.”

“Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve is 2,000 acres of coastal state park located in the community of La Jolla, off North Torrey Pines Road. Although it is located within San Diego city limits, it remains one of the wildest stretches of land (8 km²) on the Southern California coast. The reserve consists of a plateau with cliffs that overlook Torrey Pines State Beach, and a lagoon that is vital to migrating seabirds.”
