Few neighborhoods are walkable to the National Zoo - in 15 mins you can get there! The zoo is huge and free and a great time on a nice day.

Free, vast, and always full of furry (sometimes scale-y) friends. The address shows this as on Connecticut Avenue, but the closest entrance to our spot is down Kenyon at. About a half mile west.

For a longer walk, the National Zoo is down Connecticut Avenue. The stars are the pandas, but it also includes a beautiful aviary and tropical forest, and sea lions who are usually fun to watch. The rear entrance opens into Rock Creek Park, so it is possible to make a loop and return along the Rock…
