You have to go - at least once - just to say you did and have the photo to prove it! Note: You can easily visit both Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse memorial in a morning or an afternoon. Both require only 1 - 2 hours for a visit.

Privately owned and funded this memorial will take decades to construct but stands high in the sky for bypassers to see!

Twice a year (typically Spring and Fall) you can join the Volk's march and walk out on the arm of Crazy Horse.

“Jewel Cave and Wind Cave are both amazing places to visit. Both have multiple tour options so that you can find the experience that best fits you, your family, or your group. Check out their websites for details! We have gone on several of the offered tours and have not regretted them! A tip: In the summer, tours fill up VERY quickly. Check the website for the time that the box office opens and plan to be at the ticket booth 20 minutes before they open so that you get your pick of the tours/timing. If you show up when the booth opens, there will be a line and you will have limited tour options. ”

“Just East of Sturgis. Hike our beautiful Bear Butte or "Mato Paha" as it's called by the Lakota and Sioux. Great hike but be prepared to get a good work out. No dogs allowed and small kids may need several breaks. A religious site and important landmark to the native tribes; you'll see dozens of prayer cloths as you climb. It truly is an awakening experience and the view from the top is absolutely incredible. ”
