Or The Hancock Museum as its also known was built in 1884 and is free to visit. It has some great exhibits on Hadrian's Wall, Ancient Egyptians, Fossils and Dinosaurs, Local Natural History and different World Cultures. A brilliant day out.

Fabulous Museum, ideal for both adults and children. The museum is free entry and right in the heart of Newcastle, just a few minutes walk from Northumberland Street.

Temporarily Closed, reopens 1st September. A fantastic place to see exhibits of animals. Free entry.

This is a free museum (donations welcomed) and great for kids and a 1/2 day out in Newcastle. Key exhibits include a fully interactive model of Hadrian's Wall, natural history, a significant display of plants and animals , spectacular objects from the Ancient Greeks and mummies from Ancient Egypt, a planetarium and a life-size T-Rex dinosaur skeleton.

Main history museum of Newcastle. It's free and open from 10am to 5pm everyday (and until 4pm during weekends).
