Absolutely breathtaking! (Even though it is under construction). Plan to spend 4-6 hours making it to the top. A shuttle will take you to the top weather permitting. Best to go first thing in the morning when there is less tourist traffic.
Colorado's most legendary 14'er. You can drive all the way to the top (I believe reservations are necessary) and there's a new visitor center at the peak. Beautiful, sweeping views of the whole area.
The drive up this mountain and back down usually takes the majority of a half day, especially if you stop for some famous hot doughnuts. If you are from a much lower elevation I would strongly recomend putting this towards the end of your stay as most tend to struggle aout 8k elevation.
If you've got to do it, you've got to do it. Plan ahead with reservations for driving or train and pre-hydrate, altitude sickness hits even locals up here!
Drive to the top of a 14,000 ft mountain!! Amazing view and brand new Visitor Center! Approx. 1 hour drive just west of Colorado Springs.
A trip to the Pikes Peak Region isn’t complete without a trip to ….. Pikes Peak. You can drive to the top if you don’t have time to hike it or can’t get a reservation on the Cog Train. Highway starts in Cascade, CO. A short distance from Woodland Park.
