You can see Calton Hill from the kitchen window. It’s a short steep climb but completely worth it for the amazing views over the city and the added bonus of the Observatory and a fine restaurant (booking advised).
Alternative to Arthur's seat with just as cool views over the city and a coffee shop on the top.
One of the best views of the city and its more of a bump than a hill, so easy to reach
A short trek to one of the best views of the city of Edinburgh. A favourite for hogmanay celebration venues.
The short climb to the top of Calton Hill provides stunning views of Princes Street and the city. If you fancy something a bit more strenuous then climb Arthur's Seat (an extinct volcano) the highest point in the city!

“Only 20 mins walk from my flat takes you to Holyrood park and the starting point for an ascent of Edinburgh's mini mountain. You will need shoes/boots with a decent grip as its quite steep and can be slippery but its well worth it - the 360degree views are fantastic!”

“One of my favourite places in the city. Good for a rainy day and great for kids too. It's free and if you take lift up to 5th floor you can go out onto the roof terrace for a 360 view over the city. ”
