A pleasant walk or short bus trip away from the property, (take the 44/113/124 or no5 bus and get off at ‘meadowbank house’ or ‘stadium’ bus stop) Arthur’s Seat & surrounding Holyrood park is a haven within easy reach of the historic Royal Mile & Holyrood Palace. Meander around the lower slopes, clamber up the steps to St. Anthony’s ruined chapel, climb to the top of the extinct volcano and admire the sweeping views over Edinburgh, the Pentlands hills national park and beyond. At the opposite side of the park from St Margaret’s Loch visit Duddingston Loch, the charming little village of Duddingston, Dr Neil’s gardens & the historic Sheepheid pub for a delicious lunch, dinner and/or drinks. The beer garden is lovely in the summer and the pub is cosy in the winter!

Beautiful views of the whole city. This former volcano offers terrain to delight hikers of all levels. There are many cosy spaces throughout the park to just lay in the sun or enjoy the calm. A nice way to escape the city. If you want to explore different neighborhoods of the city, you can walk the perimeter of the park and wander into connecting side streets on any side. Also, you might decide to trek up to Arthur's Seat for a photo or to take in the sights.

Plenty of walks to choose from: either up Arthur’s seat itself or along the top of the Salisbury crags, or just wandering through the park and seeing the swans on the lake.

This is easy. It's just 30 seconds from your door. I walk the dog here every day and it never fails to lift the spirits, rain or shine. Infinite variety – a very walkable hill with a great view, a set of climbable crags, seven lochs, hidden woodlands and endless trails. A unique wild space in the heart of the city.
