Sultan II.Abdülhamid'in tahta çıkışının 25. yılında armağan olarak 1901 yılında inşa edilen kulenin mimarı M.Raymond Pere'dir.Üst bölümde, dış yüzlerde bulunan dört adet saat Alman İmparatoru II.Wilhelm tarafından armağan edilmiştir.

It is a cliche, your first stop should be symbol of the city. You can drink fresh juice after visiting the clock tower. That path will take you Kemeraltı bazaar, Kızlarağası inn and (if you interest historical places) Agora ruins.
Clock tower is the symbol of İzmir. It also has not much to spend time for but it is a must see for we don’t have too much old and symbolic structures to run into.
