If you decide to head north and take the ferry over to Washington Island, I'd recommend making a stop in Gills Rock (the town right before the ferry dock) to stop in at Charlie's Smokehouse. They specialize in smoked fish, and I always make a point to stop there for Smoked Whitefish Dip before heading over on the ferry.
