There are a million ramen places in New York, but this small noodle house transports you straight to Tokyo. The owner is a Jewish guy from New York, and his ramen is influenced by Jewish chicken noodle soup. It’s made with chicken broth instead of pork so it’s much less fatty, and the broth is lighter—almost clear—and more balanced than most. My favorite is the shoyu because the noodles are made with buckwheat flour and have a nice bite without being overly chewy like some traditional ramen noodles. All the ramen here is worth trying, though!

innovative ramen featuring rye noodles- kinda hard to get a table but worth the wait
Featured on the Netflix show Chef's Table, this one of its kind spot has delicious fried chicken and wonderful noodle bowls. Especially good on rainy days.
Ramen from the master Ivan Orkin. It is an intimate shop, where solo ramen heads sit at the bar watching their bowls take shape, is on every short list. Try tsukumen (dipping-style) ramen with pickled collard greens and shoyu-glazed pork belly - it's gorgeous.
My favorite ramen shop. Featured in Chef's Table on Netflix. The starters are great and the chicken ramen is my favorite.
Creative homemade noodle soups & izakaya-style small plates served in a colorful space with a patio.
Seriously good Ramen. Reservation recommended. Worth picking up. They struggled through the pandemic, we bypass any discounts offered just to make sure this place survives.

“Shareable plates including panko-crusted ebi fry with tartar sauce (UHH YUM) and savory takoyaki pancake balls with octopus. A predinner shot of sake will warm your belly for the main course. SO GOOD”

“While take-out from the 1914 original on East Houston is an unparalleled New York City experience, the new, wonderfully turned-out, old-world café is about a ten minute walk from the mothership. We heartily recommend the classic open-face sandwich, the super heebster nosh with wasabi roe, and matzo ball soup. Chocolate babka french toast, along with their potato pancakes, which are topped with Gaspe Nova smoked salmon and a sunny side up egg.”
