The shopping centre in Corciano is massive and is open seven days a week. The CONAD supermarket here is remarkably well stocked and in particular has an excellent wine section. you have to visit it at least once during your stay.

Sightseeing
Cortona is a very compact city which at just 18km from the property is ideal for an evening meal or a stroll. All the roads up to the centre of town are very steep but once you arrive the main thoroughfare, the "Rugapiana" is very flat and very busy.
Our favourite restaurant in this area of Italy is in this town, La Bucaccia, but there are other excellent restaurants such as the Osteria del Teatro.

Cortona is a very compact city which at just 18km from the property is ideal for an evening meal or a stroll. All the roads up to the centre of town are very steep but once you arrive the main thoroughfare, the "Rugapiana" is very flat and very busy.
Our favourite restaurant in this area of Italy is in this town, La Bucaccia, but there are other excellent restaurants such as the Osteria del Teatro.
Amazing views of the Val d'Orcia can be had from the walls of this town. You can get a view of Tuscany as everyone imagines it to be.

Absolutely idyllic location to be seen especially in the months of April and May when the wisteria is flowering. The owners during the second WW played a big part in preserving the culture of the entire Val d'Orcia.

The only independent state in Italy and a great day out. The journey from the house takes only 90 minutes.

Arts & Culture
In less than one hour by car from the property you can arrive in the heart of Siena. The magnificent Piazza del Campo and the incredible cathedral must be visited. The cathedral with the stunning use of black and white marble is probably the most beautiful in all of Italy. Siena is very much a "lived in" town and does not have countless shops selling religious artefacts as does Assisi.
Do not pass the opportunity of eating a meal at one of the restaurants which border the Piazza del Campo as their prices are surprisingly affordable.

At only 90 minutes by train from Terontola Cortona station to the Santa Maria Novella ("SMN") station in the heart of Florence at a cost of just €12 each way per person who wouldn't take the train? There is just so much to see and shopping to be had in this wonderful city that a short discussion here couldn't do it justice.
However you must visit the Uffizi gallery to view some of the most iconic art in the world and visit the Accademia to see the da Vinci's "David ". Book early to avoid disappointment.

Metropolitan City of Florence
At only 90 minutes by train from Terontola Cortona station to the Santa Maria Novella ("SMN") station in the heart of Florence at a cost of just €12 each way per person who wouldn't take the train? There is just so much to see and shopping to be had in this wonderful city that a short discussion here couldn't do it justice.
However you must visit the Uffizi gallery to view some of the most iconic art in the world and visit the Accademia to see the da Vinci's "David ". Book early to avoid disappointment.
Umbria's best known tourist spot and the birthplace of San Francesco d'Assisi is just 46km from the house. It takes about 45 minutes to get there along the superstrada.
