Food Scene

If you want really good food and a quiet and relaxed atmosphere with a European style restaurant, this is a good place. But it's not cheap.

The Muus Khaia has excellent Sakha food with local ingredients, and also an affordable lunch offer usually. In the evenings on weekends it's also a nice place to dance, although the disco does not go on very late. The place is owned by a famous traveler and film maker and activist, Mr Makarov. Ask if you can buy his films on DVD there.

Kitagava is a chain with many branches in Yakutsk, and I think they make good Japanese food there and offer a nice quiet atmosphere. Also good for lunch. They are also in the 202 mikroraion and several other places

They have good real coffee (not nescafe) and nice cakes and desserts too. The interior is pretty mainstream European style as you would expect to find anywhere on the planet. Not cheap but worth the investment. Free Wifi too. They also have another branch in the Dzerzhinskogo Street

Pretty active nightclub, mainstream music English and Russian style, public is usually in their 20s, maybe a bit older too. Open until late, I think five in the morning

Parks & Nature

This is the closest beach where you can officially swim in the super hot summer of Yakutsk. Sometimes it gets pretty crowded there. The beach is serviced and cleaned every day during the season. You have a nice view on the Lena River there too.

Getting Around

The river port is where the boats depart to the famous Lena Pillars (UNESCO heritage). You can buy tickets for 1,2,3 day trips from the Rechflot office on the big square in the centre of town. Here you can also depart for the big travel all the way up the Lena in Summer to Tiksi on the shore of the Laptev Sea.
