The road into the gardens is 2.5 miles long, so a 5 mile round trip walk. Park is open 9 to 4 for cars, but walkers can park outside the entry gates and walk in the park in the early morning or after 4.
This is a great botanical garden to learn about various trees here in Hawaii.

NICE 1+ mile uphill walk. Usually packed with people, but the views to Molokai and to Maui are wonderful on a nice day. Views of the windward coastline from the look out at the top of the walk are terrific. Go early and during weekdays. Packed on the weekends.

Makapuʻu Lookout

This is a county operated 9 hole bare bones, but FUN golf course, with 5 holes along the ocean. Terrific views. You have to walk the course, but you can rent a walking cart for your clubs. The price is right. After golf, go to Giovanni's Shrimp truck - just around the corner from the Golf Course.

Honolulu Museum on Beretania Street has a small but nice art collection. The Contemporary Museum on Makiki Heights Drive has a small collection. The gardens and the cafe at the Contemporary Museum are worth the trip.
