Food Scene

My favourite fish restaurant in Florence! In the heart of Florence and opening onto the magnificent Piazza della Repubblica is the “Pesce Rosso Restaurant”, a unique and exclusive restaurant that aims at becoming a reference point for the lovers of fish food in the historical centre of town. Very high quality ingredients, fresh fish only, a simple and elegant setting are the distinguishing elements of this restaurant that is one of a kind.

Sightseeing

If you are walking along the Arno between Ponte Vecchio and the Uffizi Gallery and glance across the river, you will see a beautiful terraced garden: this is the Bardini Garden. Being closer to Ponte Vecchio, one could claim it has a better view of the city than the one you enjoy from the Piazzale Michelangelo and for this reason its popularity is increasing. The beautiful terraces and top "belvedere" offer extraordinary views of Florence, while the villa today hosts both a permanent collection of works by Pietro Annigoni and temporary exhibits year round. There is a cafe for refreshments but you can also enjoy a discreet picnic along the benches spread out over the garden while enjoying the view. The park is perfect for families with kids too, if the parents are willing to push a stroller up the hill to get here as many of the paths within the garden are accessible. There are many steps because the garden is terraced, but there are many sections that lie at the top which can be visited more easily. Ticket € 8, reduced ticket for groups and included in your ticket to the Boboli Gardens. FREE ENTRY ON THE FIRST SUNDAY OF EACH MONTH. Open Tuesday through Sunday, 10am-7pm Main entrance is on Costa San Giorgio, 2 (a steep street). You can also access the villa and gardens from Via dei Bardi, 1R but the better view and impact is if you climb up the steep street and then work your way down... or take bus 12 to Viale Galileo and then walk your way down Via di S. Leonardo... or visit the Boboli Gardens first, work your way up to the Forte Belvedere, and exit the gardens there; you are at the top of the hill and less than 5 min walk away.
