Sightseeing
Best views of the city and Waitamata harbour from this inner city volcanic cone. Take the train one stop to Mt Eden and walk south on Mt Eden Rd to the base and then walk up. On your way back stop at Mt Eden Village for a refreshments.

250 Mount Eden RdBest views of the city and Waitamata harbour from this inner city volcanic cone. Take the train one stop to Mt Eden and walk south on Mt Eden Rd to the base and then walk up. On your way back stop at Mt Eden Village for a refreshments.
Take a walk to the summit on one of the paths formed by livestock , that winds around the volcanic cone. The 360 view from the top of both harbours is grounding. On your way back stop at the ice cream kiosk on the north side of the hill.

This 800 years young volcanic cone is an amazing day hiking. Geologically fascinating and amazing native flora and fauna. Take the train to Britomart then catch a ferry from Downtown, you can walk the full circumference of the island or trek to the summit. Plus its a great day out on the harbour.

This 800 years young volcanic cone is an amazing day hiking. Geologically fascinating and amazing native flora and fauna. Take the train to Britomart then catch a ferry from Downtown, you can walk the full circumference of the island or trek to the summit. Plus its a great day out on the harbour.
Piha is my favourite West Coast beach, I love the drive through the Waitakere rain forest to get there and the wild landscape. Karekare, Bethalls & Muriwai all have there own character and are also worth a visit. There is no public transport so you will need a car or book a Beach & Bush tour.

White sand beaches and local wineries many with cafes. Public transport will get you there from Kingsland. Train, ferry and once on the island you can hire a bike and do a self guided cycle tour.

This is such a cool outdoors salt-water pool. Great for grown-up swimming of lengths (unheated) and spending time with little ones in the heated kids pool. The spa pool is great to relax in. During the week its really quiet and a bit of a secret spot.
