This is a newer restaurant and Chef Joe is well known in the Des Moines area. His small plates feature local produce and the menu is constantly changing with the seasons. Beautiful spot for a date night (not recommended for families).

This quaint bistro has some of the best food in town. Chef Lynn is a student of cooking, and prides himself in simple, elegant, and locally sourced foods. This is a great spot for lunch or dinner.

This is one of my favorite pizza spots in Des Moines. The pizzas are fabulous, but the salads are also great.

This is a great spot for a high end dinner. Chef Baru makes some of the finest dishes in Des Moines, and he has been a loyal customer of Dogpatch Urban Gardens since our beginning. I recommend the 3 or 6 course meals.

Christopher's has a been a restaurant staple in Beaverdale for generations. If you're looking for some classic Italian dishes this is a great place. The bar area is also nice and a favorite spot for locals to catch sports games.

The Cheese Shop is you place to visit for any cheese/charcuterie needs! They also recently opened a larger restaurant called the Cheese Bar which serves a full menu. I highly recommend both places!

If you need an ice cream fix, Snookie's is THE spot. Keep in mind it is only open seasonally (May - September).

This is a great spot to get outside and enjoy nature.
This lake is a great place to take the family for a picnic, walk, and enjoy the sites. A trip around the lake is 2 miles and there is a park, green space, and you can rent paddle boards/boats to use on the lake.

Ledge's is about a 30 minute drive, and totally worth it! The park has beautiful bluffs and streams. You can also rent a shelter to host a family gathering/event.

Their downtown location is newer and we love it! If you're a fan of IPA's this place should be high on your list. It is located in East Village which is a great spot in Down Town Des Moines.

Confluence is a staple brewery in town. You are welcome to bring kids, and they usually have a food truck set up outside. Another perk is that is it located just minutes from Gray's Lake.
