This no-frills taqueria has served its neighborhood night owls since long before Condesa became the chic area it is today. Specialties are tacos al pastor, adobo-soaked pork sliced from the spit and served on fresh tortillas with pineapple, onion, and cilantro. Try your taco "gringa" style, on a flour tortilla with melted cheese. It's open late into the morning, exactly when you might need a taco. Kalimán, the Incredible Man is a popular Mexican adventurer superhero created by Rafael Cutberto Navarro and Modesto Vázquez González in 1963 as the main character of a Radio drama with the same title which depicts the adventures of Kalimán, and his young companion Solín.

It is one of the most anticipated cultural corridors of the Countess, has three floors and also serves as a food market, has a playroom and will be an open space for many recreational activities. Guram has joined efforts with the five partners of the enclosure, creating in each corner of the three floors that make up this space, the occasion to give families a place of peaceful coexistence where the performing arts, art galleries, live concerts and cooking from different regions of the world converge.

Caffeine fiends searching for a quality brunch in Condesa need look no further than cute Chiquitito Café which specializes in espressos and coffee. But while it regularly receives excellent write-ups for its well-made coffee, Chiquitito Café has so much more to offer for a brunch time crowd. Choose from freshly made baguettes, sandwiches and sweet breads and get your day off to the perfect start. For people watching, the sidewalk stools are your best bet, but you can also dine in, surrounded by Chiquitito Café’s minimal, exposed brick décor.

Laid-back café bakery Maque is a tranquil and well-located brunch option in the Condesa district of Mexico City, situated just off Parque México. The homemade bread is divine, but the pan dulce is the stand-out at this quaint spot. As far as brunch goes, take your pick from the traditional Mexican options, eggs in all forms under the sun (omelettes, a la mexicana, divorciados, the list goes on) and some of the best chilaquiles, doused in salsas and toppings of your choice.

Bagels are not easy to come by in Mexico, but at Karma Bagels you can seek comfort in this brunch time favorite. Small but perfectly formed, Karma Bagels offers an option a little out of the ordinary in this sprawling metropolis, and it does it well, stuffing an incredible amount into its bagels, both taste and filling-wise. Perfectly located also, with views over the parks leading into Condesa, we recommend this brunch place if you’re searching for some home comforts, healthier options, and a friendly atmosphere.

Not just one of the best brunch spots in Condesa, but one of the best in Mexico City as a whole, Qué Sería de Mí is a delightful and highly recommended hole-in-the-wall spot with delicious dining options. Check out the blueberry and ricotta pancakes, and beautifully prepared chilaquiles, accompanied by a freshly made juice. To guarantee a table in this tiny, cozy spot you must be sure to arrive early or be prepared to wait as it has a very small capacity for dine-in customers. Brooklyn style dining in the heart of Condesa comes in the form of Peltre, a chic café in the heart of Condesa, owned by Chef Daniel Ovadia. While their aesthetic and vibe may scream ‘Brooklyn,’ their food screams ‘Mexico.’ Try their soft, squishy, mouth-watering tortas, or tuck into a pan dulce or pastry, but don’t forget to accompany your breakfast with one of their Mexican coffees. Due to the variety in the menu at Peltre, you can really fill up for your day ahead, or simply take it easy with a light brunch and creamy chai latte.

When it comes to seafood, Contramar offers the best in the capital. The fashionable restaurant is notorious for its tuna tostadas, which are the most popular choice on the menu for their freshness and exquisite flavor; however this does not mean that the other options are any less delicious. Even with a huge, high-ceiling dining room, Contramar still manages to fill up every lunchtime. However, the service is exceptionally fast, so you will never have to wait long for your meal. Sometimes the queue outside the restaurant may seem long, but the quality of the food is definitely worth the wait.

Located in a building designed by the celebrated Mexican architect Luis Barragán in 1939, the restaurant Bonito Popfood aims to maintain the original ambiance of the place. With a beautiful internal garden at the heart of the restaurant, several private rooms and a terrace, the atmosphere of Bonito Popfood is simply divine. Leader Ramón Orraca invented a whole new concept within gastronomy – called ‘popfood’ – which is exclusive to the restaurant. This is his name for universal favorites, but with a special touch to make the menu imaginative and exciting, so that you may have a most sensational evening.

At Patagonia, you will find an attractive Argentine country-grill menu, offering traditional items such as the old favorite choripán (a delicious chorizo sandwich) and the typical succulent meats, which Argentina is renowned for. Their salads are slightly more unique to the restaurant, using unusual combinations of flavors such as in their ensalada patagonica, featuring a mix of mushrooms and smoked trout, delightful to whet one’s appetite before trying one of their delicious main courses. However, the terrace is the thing to look out for at Patagonia, with a rooftop full of hanging plants and a view of the beautiful trees of La Condesa, where you can enjoy a pleasant, relaxed afternoon.

The most famous El Pendulo store is in Polanco and regularly features on lists of the best bookshops in the world. It’s well deserved and we loved visiting that one, but we also grew to love our local El Pendulo store in Condesa. It’s smaller than the Polanco shop but has the same cosy charm and is the ideal place for whiling away hours trying to work while getting distracted by all the people and books. The attention goes immediately to a huge bar that runs throughout the ground floor of the bar, and that shines with a section on the letter called De Barrio (with the name of actors of ficheras films). Finally, cocktails will be the protagonist, you will want to ask for them all. An Inclan is a clash of citrus flavors, such as lemon and orange juice with rum, spice syrup and a hint of mint. They serve it in a blue pewter jar with a lot of ice, so the effective liquid will be very small. The atmosphere is still relaxed, with live music at the top and everyone in their roll. Do not take cocktail maneuvers so seriously and, if you want, just order a beer and enjoy a chat in the place.

Even though it’s called Mambocafé, salsa (and tropical) is a big deal at this Del Valle hotspot, and you need to get there early if you want the space to try out your best moves, as it fills up fast. If you go on a Friday or Saturday, there’s generally a cover fee of MXN$100 but it’s worth it for the live bands that often play there. Plus, you can make a night of it and get dinner while you’re there.

El Imperial is one of the best live music venues in Mexico City, particularly for fans of rock and electronica. It’s a popular club, favoring all that is vintage and antique, and frequented by hipsters and lovers of the alternative. The venue itself is a two-storey building, with a stage on the first floor and a pulsating dance floor on the second floor, which is known as ‘El Room’. Usually, national rock bands perform at El Imperial, but it is not uncommon for international bands to take to the stage.
