CANAL DU MIDI BOAT TRIP, CARCASSONNE: This isn't the only boat trip on the Canal du Midi but if you intend on visiting Carcassonne, then you have a choice of two or three trips (with corresponding lengths of trips to suit everyone). You'll be taken along part of the Canal du Midi and told the amazing history of its creation. You'll go through one or two of the automatic locks which are pretty impressive pieces of engineering. And - depending on the trip's length, you may get a chance to get off the boat, stretch your legs or have a quick drink at a Canal-side cafe while watching the world go by.

If it's breathtaking panoramic views you are after, then this idyllic medieval town is perfect. Set atop a high plateau, the town can be seen from miles around. Climb to the town's viewing terrace, and you will be able to spot everything from Revel, Les Armengauds, the Black Mountains, the Pyrennees, and so much more!
