Shopping

On Sunday mornings (until 12.00) there is a lovely open air market selling local produce, including organic bread, local goats' cheese, fresh vegetables and fruit, olives and a host of other foods, along with stalls selling handmade pottery, one amazing stall selling a host of utensils for cooking and the home.

The bookstore here is famous all over the region and further afield. It is a massive maze of rooms that is easy to get lost in. Lovely for browsing the myriad of books on the locality, but also cooking, fiction, design, architecture, . . . . the list is endless. This town is also famous for the wonderful Banon cheese, a goat's cheese wrapped in chestnut leaves.

Sightseeing

This area is famous for the ochres that have traditionally been used for paints. It is also possible to go to Roussillon to walk through the great expanse of ochre sands, but I prefer around Rustrel as there are fewer people. Don't forget to take shoes that you don't mind getting coloured with ochre!!

Food Scene

Le Sanglier Paresseux is a lovely restaurant with high quality and original food. Try and get a table outside with a view over the valley. Expect to pay around €50 per person plus drinks, depending on the menu. Highly recommended. The little village is great for a walk pre or post lunch/dinner.
