A local favorite for authentic local comfort food --Spam & eggs, "plate lunch" and more! Located in Laie just of the Kam Highway, it's hard to find, but worth the hunt. It was even featured in "Man vs Food" on the Travel Channel. (No, it's not the same restaurant as the one in the movie "50 First Dates").

A local favorite! Great food, nice wine selection, and a friendly atmosphere & staff. It's usually pretty busy around dinnertime, so call ahead or be prepared to sit at the bar for a few while you wait for a table. Don't let that scare you, though--busy means it's GOOD! :)

Drinks & Nightlife
Lively place to gather with friends. It's not uncommon to spot local celebrities/world-renowned surfers here, especially when the swell is in. Located inside the hotel, Surfer offers food and great drinks--try the "Monkey's Lunch"--a great creamy tropical blended drink. They have karaoke some nights.

Breath taking! Take a long easy hike (really more of a walk) through the tropical botanical gardens to Waimea Falls. Bring your swimsuit and pay a small fee to use a life-jacket and swim in the pool under the falls. It's one of the most meticulously-maintained, beautiful spots on the North Shore.

One of the most popular hikes on Oahu. Hike up and along the crater rim. Amazing views from the top of the trail. There is a water fountain near the bathrooms at the foot of the trail in case you want to hydrate before the hike or fill an empty bottle. The park closes at 6pm and signs posted indicate that you are not allowed to head up the trail after 4:30pm.

Sharks Cove has been rated by Scuba Diving Magazine as one of the "Top Twelve Shore Dives in the World". It can get a little crowded on occasion, but I highly doubt you’ll notice when you’re in the water. Because it's located between the famed big wave surf spots of Waimea Bay and the Banzai Pipeline, you’ll have to make sure there are no large swells that day. October through April is considered Hawaii’s surf season, with waves peaking between December and February, so the summer months are the best time to snorkel Sharks Cove. Children aren't recommended. Parking fills up quick, so show up early or you'll have to hunt for another spot or try & sneak into the Foodland parking lot without getting seen leaving your car for the beach (Foodland will tow).

Amazing hike with beautiful views, located above what was once the Crouching Lion Restaurant along the Kamehameha Highway. It's a short, fairly easy if not steep hike, with GREAT views of the outer reef along the Windward Side of Oahu. Parking's a bit tricky.

Also known as the "Stairway to Heaven", this trail is "officially" closed, but you can still get away with hiking it if you show up in the wee hours of the morning before the guard shows up. It's commonly known among locals, but kind of a secret--and breathtaking...literally! Not for the faint of heart or physically limited, this hike is dangerous, slippery and only recommended for advanced hikers &/or adventurous extreme types. Please note if you are injured on or receive a citation on this hike I'm not held liable for any suggestion.

Located in Waimea Valley just to the north, right across the street from Waimea Bay. Since April 2009 this market has been a fun community gathering-place reflective of the uniqueness of the North Shore. Every week locals and visitors alike gather to celebrate and to fill up on fresh locally grown produce, listen to live music, watch the kids make free arts & crafts, and soak up the North Shore vibe. The food here is better than you'll find at many restaurants, at half the price! Make sure to try out the custom Poke Bowls--they're delicious!
