Really great Italian food in the mountains. There's a pizzeria and a regular restaurant with different hours, so check before you go. You won't be disappointed.

Blue Ridge has an artsy vibe, with a vibrant arts scene, local art galleries and great community theater. The town has three craft breweries and live music on weekends. Blue Ridge was founded in 1886 as a result of the arrival of the Marietta and North Georgia Railroad. In the early years, there were five hotels and several boarding houses in downtown Blue Ridge, and the town was promoted as the "Switzerland of the South."

Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest near Robbinsville is a living memorial to writer/poet Joyce Kilmer, best known for the poem, “Trees.” The Forest is a rare example of an old growth cove hardwood forest, an extremely diverse forest type unique to the Appalachian Mountains. Take a two-mile easy hike to see poplar, hemlock, red and white oak, basswood, beech, and sycamore. Some are more than 400 years old and rise to heights of over 100 feet and have circumferences of up to 20 feet!
