A relatively easy hike that’s kid friendly with spectacular views! From the corner of Main Street and NC 106 in Highlands, follow US 64 East for 5.4 miles. Turn right onto Whiteside Mt. Rd. (SR 1600). There is a sign for Whiteside Mountain Recreation Area. Follow for 1 mile to the signed parking area on the left. There is a $2.00/day area use fee at Whiteside Mountain Recreation Area.

Whiteside Mtn Trail
91-170 Deville DrA relatively easy hike that’s kid friendly with spectacular views! From the corner of Main Street and NC 106 in Highlands, follow US 64 East for 5.4 miles. Turn right onto Whiteside Mt. Rd. (SR 1600). There is a sign for Whiteside Mountain Recreation Area. Follow for 1 mile to the signed parking area on the left. There is a $2.00/day area use fee at Whiteside Mountain Recreation Area.
Cashiers Sliding Rock is a great place to bring the kids and even yourself to play in the cold headwaters of the Chattooga National Wild & Scenic River. Play in the pool at the bottom of the sliding rock or take the short trail to the top for a short, but exciting slide into the pool below. No address available, so from the intersection of NC 107 and US 64 in Cashiers, follow NC 107 south for approximately one mile. Then take a right on White Side Cove, just past Hampton inn country club/golf course. After about 5 mins, you’ll see cars pulled over on the side of the road at Sliding Rock.
