Stunning views particularly in the early morning and during sun set. Great for local walks and picknicing. On a good day it's a nice walk of about 10 miles to the castle on paths almost entirely free of traffic.

A beautiful estate with wonderful park and forest area surrounding the buildings. Great destination for a 2 hour walk from our house. Great for foraging mushrooms in autumn and greens in spring.

Getting Around
The bus stop Hawthorn Crescent is just a wee bit down the B6482 from our house. During the day busses run every 10 minutes or more often and in the evening you can get the night bus back form Edinburgh until the wee hours. Wait at the bus stop on our side of the road for buses 3 and 33 into Edinburgh.
