This is the place to go for brunch. It's an eclectic mix of good coffee, Belgian waffles, and a Middle Eastern influenced menu. EXPECT LONG LINEUPS! (worth it if you don't mind the queues)

One of my favourite restaurants - French-inspired menu, award-winning bartender, nice place without being too pretentious. If you want a night out, it's in the Gastown neighbourhood of bars and pubs.

Good, cheap sushi. Outside the downtown core. There are usually lineups but you can put your name down and grab a drink at one of the many hipster bars/pubs in the area while you wait.

If you like cocktails, this is one of the best places for drinks. It also has a decent menu of meat-centric, farmhouse fare. Pretty good vibe most nights of the week.

This is worth the trip if you're looking for winter activities - skating, snowshoeing, skiing, snowboarding. You'll need to take the gondola up. There's a lodge at the top to have a beer and fondue.

Closest place to grab bikes to hop on the Seawall for a ride. A round trip to Stanley Park, around the Seawall and back takes about 1hr (nonstop.) Bring along eats from Urban Fare across the way.
