Egg tarts, famous egg tarts. From the hungry onion: "Of HK’s many bakeries, the one which stood out in many people’s minds must be Tai Cheong (Est. 1954) on Lyndhurst Terrace, Central - it was the one mentioned by HK’s last British Governor, Chris Patten, as his favorite bakery in the colony. Chris Patten, affectionately nicknamed “Fei Pang” (Fatty Pang) was well-known among HKers for his gustatory exploits. He’d famously quipped that he “could not go a day without an egg tart from Tai Cheong”.

Dim Sum the old fashioned way, and an experience which you will never forget. Old style Hong Kong at its best. "Hong Kong’s Lin Heung Tea House is busier than ever as closure in prospect for Wellington Street institution 100 years old Customers old and new are thronging Lin Heung, one of the city’s most popular Chinese dim sum restaurants, after speculation it will make way for redevelopment; a property developer has bought 90 per cent of building it’s in.On a lunchtime visit last Saturday, diners clamour around trolleys loaded with bamboo baskets of dim sum as soon as they are wheeled out. Finding an empty seat is like playing musical chairs, with quarrels breaking out occasionally." SCMP

The band starts playing from 9.30 PM. The entrance is difficult to find. Walk down the cobblestone stairs off Hollywood Road into Pottinger Street. At the first corner left hand is the entrance to Iron Fairies. You will have never seen anything like this before. With 10,000 butterflies on thin copper rods swinging from the ceiling and thousands of small iron fairies scattered around the tables, Iron Fairies brings a touch of magic. My female friends LOVE this place. Furnished in raw iron, hand-hewn timber, and soft, supple leather, Iron Fairies caters for 80 guests across six individually designed furnaces and casting rooms and a main open space with good views of the band on stage.

Parks & Nature

Walk up to the Peak! Yes, it makes you sweat, but only takes 40-50 minutes. Wear flat shoes, the roads are steep. Use the Mid Level escalator until the top on Conduit Street, turn left and follow Conduit until the first traffic light, cross over there into Hornsey Road. From now on, the only way is up. Follow Hornsey and dont get confused that it turns into a school parking lot, just keep going until you reach Old Peak Road. Take Old Peak Road all the way to the top, until you reach Victoria Peak. You will slowly climb above the high rise residential towers of the mid levels. Most of the way is in the shade. But the incline is steep, so make really sure, that you wear comfortable flat shoes

Several exhibitions are on at all times. Entrance is free. Best download free tickets via the Tai Kwun App, as especially on weekends you may otherwise be refused entrance. Using the app is hassle free and assures you entry, as you get your ticket, which can be for several people, as a QR code on your phone. It is very worthwhile visiting, especially the prison part offers unique picture taking opportunities.

"Without a doubt the most recognizable and photographed example of street art in Hong Kong. Local graffiti artist Alex Croft’s colorful mural of old townhouses seems to continuously have tourists and local Instagrammers alike hanging around seeking a snapshot. Originally a commissioned piece for lifestyle brand GOD’s store around the corner, the art is now a must-see attraction itself. " Opposite The Globe, 45-53 Graham St, Central, just a 2 minute walk from here.
