Food Scene

Only wood-fired pizza in town. Ferro may be better for larger groups (outdoor picnic tables and live music), but the food is better here IMHO.

Drinks & Nightlife

Order your food by the kitchen, and go to the bar to get your drinks, but probably the coolest place on the hill for the young and young at heart. Burgers and the fried chicken recommended. Great outdoor area by the creek, perfect for summer evenings.

Parks & Nature

About a 10 minute walk from the cabin. Beautiful meadow to the left, and the Perimeter Trail to the right will take you to the Nature Center, State Park, and Deer Springs trail head.

Somehow Tahquitz (tah-quitz) Rock approaches El Capitan-like stature as you approach Humber park. Take the steep "Climber's Trail" to the base to hear and watch climbers attack the rock. Requires $5 Adventure Pass to park. The Ernie Maxwell trail from the lower parking lot is the easy trail for families. This is also the starting point for the popular Devil’s Slide Trail. Remember to get your free wilderness permit at the ranger station. They will ask for it (especially weekends), and you can be fined if you don’t have one.

Fun four wheel drive road (not too rough though). Park at the campground and take a short hike to the fire lookout tower on the summit. Amazing rock formations, great sunsets.

Grocery

Village Market (or the liquor store across the street) near the cabin is OK for something quick, but this is where the locals shop.
