The locals know this hidden gem has the best seafood in town! Amazing lobster & haddock! Generous portions. Great prices, too. Sometimes you can spot bald eagles from the views here, as they overlook the Penobscot River!

This is my favorite local restaurant. Request a table by the fireplace for the best ambiance. My favorite things to order are the Greek salad, and the Haddock Plaki. They have a bar in the back for those interested.

Shhhh! This is a secret! This place has the best ice cream in the world! We call this "The DP" (Dairy Port). Ah-Mazing!!! From here, and all along Main Street, you can see beautiful views of Fort Knox. You can take your ice cream, and cross the street, and go down towards the water, where Bucksport has a beautiful waterfront walk, and enjoy your ice cream sitting on a bench with a view of Fort Knox, or walking along the water.

This is the most delicious stop as you are going around the Park Loop in Acadia National Park. You must order the lemonade and popovers - popovers are the most delicious thing ever, they are served with jam and butter, so good!!! I believe they stop serving these at 4pm. You can walk down the lawn towards the water, and see the carriage trails, if you aren't athletic enough to really want to hike, you can still get a look at what the trails look like. It's a beautiful view of North and South Bubbles (Mountains), and Jordan Pond, which is a water supply for the area.

The food is pretty good! Formerly 24 hours prior to the pandemic, it still serves to late night and opens very early. I wouldn't recommend it over my favorites, and definitely not over my seafood favorites, but if it's late at night, or if it's very early, this is the place to go. It is a truck stop, so be prepared to see some truckers along with regular folk.

This is a fun old-fashioned drive-in! They serve mostly fried "baskets", my favorite is the fried haddock basket served with fries, cole slaw and a roll, delicious! They have lobster rolls, shrimp and scallop baskets, and they have ice cream, too! My aunt worked here when she was a teenager, in the 1950's, when the place was called Fat's!

This is AMAZING and a must see! This is America's first Fort Knox. Fort Knox was built to protect the area during the American Revolution. You can walk through the tunnels (the place looks quite a bit like a castle!) and it's a lot of fun. It's also very interesting to look at the architecture. There are several other things to do in the area, including the Penobscot Narrows Observatory (same parking lot), so this is a must do! Many events take place at Fort Knox throughout the year, so please check schedules! Outdoor plays, re-enactments, pirate festivals, Halloween events, and much more!

The Buck Monument is a local legend having to do with a witch's curse. Jonathan Buck was the founder of the town of Bucksport. Legend has it that he put a witch to her death, and the witch cursed him, and now there is an imprint of the witch's leg (which rolled out of the fire in which she died) on his monument. According to my mother, who grew up in Bucksport, they tried to scrub off this leg, but no matter what, it returned. When she was young, they even replaced they monument, to no avail, still the leg returned. There is also a sideways heart at the top of the monument. When I was young, you could walk around this very old cemetary, but now it is a small tourist attraction. Free.
