Turn off Inland Road onto Ramp Road. The lake water is stained from the peat and tannins in the earth, resembling the colour of coca cola - hence it's common name. The lake is a popular swimming spot and the local Maori believe it has healing properties.
Ramp Road will also get you to the far end of Tokerau Beach.
