Visit Britain's oldest subscription library. Founded in 1741 and previously known as Leadhills Reading society and the Allan Ramsay library and more importantly famous for being the world's first library for working people.

Leadhills Cemetery is full of history. Not only can you see commonwealth war graves here, but you can also visit the final resting place of John Taylor, a miner who died here in 1770. What is remarkable was that he was born in 1633 making him 117 years old when he retired as a miner in 1751, and 137 when he died. His grave is well signposted so you cannot miss it.
