Hidden down a side street in the centre of Camborne, a quiet little Italian serving great food. Doesn't look much to look at; however, I've always found the food to be great and the service excellent.

If you're looking for budget food options for the whole family, then the local JD Wetherspoons in the old Corn Exchange building is ideal. Usual Wetherspoon fare and pricing.

Stithians Lake and Reservoir sits between Camborne and Falmouth. The reservoir features a number of walks, wildlife and impressive views. If you're looking to do some watersports there are options to kayak, canoe etc on offer. At night this is also a good location for star-gazing as there is very limited light pollution.

Essentials

This is the local Tesco, literally around the corner from the house (2 minutes walk); however, if you want a larger store selling everything you might want, then there is a Tesco Extra in Pool (5 minutes drive from the property).

Larger Tescos selling everything - clothing, electricals, camping gear etc. For smaller shops, I'd recommend the local Tescos in Camborne.

Drinks & Nightlife

I am a big fan of a well made cocktail. Truro is the main city in Cornwall, Bustophers is by far the best cocktail bar in the city.

The Penventon Park Hotel is in the next town; however, they are worth a visit if you're a fan of gin. The recently renovated, Georgian hotel, features a bar with more than 130 gins to choose from, including a range of locally produced gins. They run regular food offers during the week too (lunch and evening) if you're looking for somewhere to eat.

The Tyacks Hotel and Bar is one of the better pubs/bars/restaurants in the centre of town and is popular with the locals. On one side is a quiet bar, on the other a more general bar with pool tables. Outside there is a seating area and small garden area (very small).

The Blue Bar is a extremely popular bar situated just off of Porthtowan beach. It can get very busy at the height of season but features some great views of the sea and a surfer vibe.

Portreath is the nearest beach to the house. It is roughly 15 minutes drive from the house; however, if you'd like a nice walk, you can park at the top of Tehidy Woods and walk down through the woods to the beach.

Sitting high above Redruth (the next town), the monument and castle provide a number of walks and views across Cornwall, including St Ives and the North Coast. Wikipedia notes the following: Carn Brea Castle Carn Brea Castle stands near the top of the hill. It is built on the site of a chapel built in 1379 probably dedicated to St Michael. It was built in the 18th century by the Basset family as a hunting lodge. It is considered to be a folly built on the huge uncut boulders that make up part of its foundations, giving the impression of the building melting into the land.

Arts & Culture

Dramatic landscape and planting provide the backdrop to contemplative but inspirational artworks. Internationally renowned artists, such as James Turrell and David Nash have interacted with the Garden to create site specific permanent work which harmonise with the setting. The land also provides a forum for ever changing temporary, or even ephemeral arts in all its forms. There is a cafe on site serving some of the best food at good prices.
