Kopurererua Valley Reserve is 12 km of walkways and cycleways located just 1.5km from the house. The trail begins at the end of 17th Avenue and loops back around.
Kopurererua Valley was for many years inhabited by the people of Ngai Tamarawaho. Remains of pa and other archaeological sites are located throughout the valley. During the mid-1800s it was the staging point and retreat path of two significant battles between Maori and British Colonial forces.

Kopurererua Valley Reserve is 12 km of walkways and cycleways located just 1.5km from the house. The trail begins at the end of 17th Avenue and loops back around.

MCLAREN FALLS PARK
McLaren Falls Park is 190 hectares of parkland set alongside Lake McLaren and is just 10 minutes by car, from Tauranga. The park is popular for camping, fishing, kayaking, disc golf course, wedding photos, picnics, bush walks and summertime concerts. It is also home to one of the best botanical collections of trees in New Zealand.
One of the highlights of the park is the waterfall track where you can see glow worms after dusk. Enjoy a short, easy stroll to the picturesque waterfall and spot the glow worms on either side of the track. Part of the waterfall track is also wheelchair and mobility scooter friendly.

Yatton park is a 1.5km walk to a unique collection of exotic and native tree species is both a locally and nationally significant arboretum. Since many of the Yatton park trees were planted around the same time in the same area, they have competed against each other for height rather than growing outwards, so many of the trees are among the tallest of their species in the country. They were planted around 1866.
Follow the track and you can walk alongside the waters edge back onto Fraser Street after completing the walk in the park.

The main track leads to the top, and then to the base of the upper series of falls before continuing downhill to the lower falls. Another track, just below the car park, follows the stream back to the road bridge. Track junctions are well sign-posted.
Kaiate Falls is a a beautiful spot to cool down on those hot summer days, or even after extensive rainfall across the region the falls come alive and a spectacle to behold.
An ideal setting for explorers young and old.

We are blessed to have some of the most beautiful beaches in the Bay of Plenty. Mount Manganui rated number 1 best beach in NZ again in 2019.
The drive is 12.8km taking about 22 minutes, there are bus services that can take you there, please check online for the bus routes and times. There is and app which you can download by searching for Baybus. (www.baybus.co.nz)
This will give you up-to-date schedules and track when your bus will arrive. The bus stop is just around the corner on Cameron Road. There is also a stop at the bottom of the hill on Fraser Street. Either will take you into the CBD.
In Mount Manganui there are many places to visit and lots of wonderful cafes located in the township and along Marine Parade.
Take a walk around Pilot Bay on the harbour front, and head up The Mount summit track (Maori name Mauao) where you will find the most spectacular views of Mount Manganui, Moturiki (Leisure Island), Mayor Island, Motiti, Island and Matakana Island which goes all the way to Bowentown in Waihi. the walk up takes approximately 20 minutes and it is popular amongst tourists to watch the spectacular sunrise or sunsets.
There are kayaks, paddle-boards and jet-skis available for hire if you want to head to Matakana Island. Hire facilities are located at Pilot Bay or head to the Information Centre at 137 Mount Manganui Road for tour options.

WHANGAMATA BEACH
This is one of my favourite beaches having lived there for 5 years. Only a 1.5 hour drive to a pristine beach located on the beautiful Coromandel coastline.
Voted best beach in New Zealand 2018 its famous for its unique combination of beach and rainforest. Whangamata’s amazing ocean beach provides some of the best surfing breaks, yet safest swimming in the country. The Coromandel Forest Park bordering the town provides many outdoor experiences, including short walks, mountain bike trails and old gold mining sites. The town also has one of the best shopping centres in the region. A number of the houses in the area are holiday homes - providing weekend refuge and the classic kiwi beach holiday. Whangamata is also home of the Beach Hop, a five day celebration of '50s and '60s culture.
Fabulous golden and white sand beaches with magnificent coastal scenery, a rugged forest-cloaked interior waiting to be explored and one of New Zealand's best surfing breaks are just some of the natural attractions that have people returning to Whangamata time after time.

Whangamata is home to one of New Zealand’s most beautiful coastal attractions. For a long time Whenuakura Wildlife Sanctuary, (often referred to as Donut Island), was a local secret. This has changed in recent years as this pacific treasure is quickly becoming a ‘must do’ New Zealand adventure. Guardians of the islands and Whangamata locals encourage you to treat the islands with respect to preserve their future.
