One of our guests ate here and enjoyed a decent steak and chips. We’ve only had breakfast here which was jolly good. Lots of choice and the children thought they had died and gone to heaven.

If you don’t walk from our house along the river, through the woods and go for an ice-cream at Llanfaes Dairy then you are seriously missing out! It’s delicious. But not open on a Monday.

Mountain Walks

Renown for it's glorious views and varied walking routes. For more information go to https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/brecon-beacons/lists/walking-in-the-brecon-beacons Most popular is to start at the Storey Arms.
We actually prefer the Cwm Llwch assent which approaches Pen Y Fan from the Brecon side. You park your car in the most idyllic spot and walk up past the waterfall and up to the Cwm. There’s less people on this route and a gorgeous Cwm for wild camping, frog spawn and wild swimming.

A good warm-up for the Pen y Fan walk. Can use car park closer to summit if you want something less taxing with a steep challenge at the end. Great views from the trig point at the summit, for more information go to: https://www.visitabergavenny.co.uk/get-active/walking/

In Talybont forest there are some fabulous waterfalls which our children love wild swimming in and sliding down the rapids. Take a picnic and enjoy a fun few hours there.

Discover the Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal (Mon & Brec for short) a true hidden gem. View the Brecon Beacons from a different angle, a haven for wildlife and a favourite with nature-lovers, walkers and cyclists. Hire a boat or canoe for the day, cycle or walk. The northern section forms part of the Taff Trail Long Distance Footpath, a 55 mile route that can be walked or cycled, starting at Brecon Basin and ending in Cardiff. Brecon Canal Formed in 1812 when the Brecknock and Abergavenny Canal joined with the Monmouthshire Canal to transport coal, iron and limestone to the busy port of Newport and other towns in South Wales and the Midlands. Today the canal offers stunning views and peace and tranquility, and is the perfect base for exploring the area.
