Stunning pub/restaurant serving local ales and has beautiful beer garden. Across the road is a small park for young children.
Food is amazing and in the winter has the best log fire to keep you warm and cosy.

Sightseeing
Excellent way to spend your day. In the morning there is a Owl Show around 11am (check times), afternoon is there fantastic Birds of Prey show. One of the best I've been to watch.
In between these you can explore the vast grounds and if you want go inside the castle and take a tour round.
Later on around 4.30pm is the Heron feeding or sometimes they choose to fire off the cannon.

Take a trip on the 'La'al Ratty' (Little Ratty) steam train. Brilliant experience and can choose to stop at the multiple stations on the way.
Go to the end of the line and you're not far from Hardknott Pass and plenty of beautiful walks.
Don't forget to call in at The Sawmill and either get some food &/or take a tour of the place.

If you're into fell walking then you can't get better than this. Stunning climb to the top to over look most of West Cumbria. If you're lucky you might get to see the RAF jets doing flybys.

Doesn't matterwhat time of year you visit, this water offers some amazing views.
Can also walk all the way around on a good day, though 1 side requires a bit of scrambling.
Again leads to many different fells if you wanted to extend your walk

Experience
Famous little karting track where you can test your skills in a challenging circuit.
Or if you're more of an observer it'soften used for the more elite karters and also holds mini moto races and also supermoto races. Worth a visit if you're into your bikes or karts
