The loft is overlooking a small local park called Frederik Hendrikplantsoen. It is a quiet, safe and well-lit residential area. Once you cross the park and the Marnixgracht canal, you will find yourself in the charming, old district called Jordaan.
Frederik Hendrikplantsoen is a park in Amsterdam West, in the Frederik Hendrikbuurt neighbourhood, on the edge of the Jordaan in one of the greenest historic neighbourhoods of Amsterdam.
It is notable for its red sculpture group from 2015 'De Stam' ('The Tribe' or 'The Tree Trunk) by Atelier van Lieshout. The red sculptures can be found in various sections of the park.

This is a place I’d recommend for brunch. It’s close to Kalverstraat, which is the main shopping street and the Flower Market. They specialise in bread, but the menu is quite extensive.

Here is a selection of some rooftops and classy hotel bars that I'd recommend if you enjoy a well mixed cocktail in a beautiful location.
W Hotel is a nice hotel, with a restaurant and a few cocktail bars on the top floor, with a nice view over the city. It's right behind the Dam Square and close to "The Butcher" burger place at Paleisstraat. It's a good place to start the night in class, enjoying the view with a cocktail in hand. They also have a restaurant on the same floor.

Main museums are situated around the Museumplein are: Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, MoCo and Stedelijk Museum. All three museums are situated within a 3 km radius from the apartment. In that area you can also find there House of Bols Adventure and the Concertgebouw. Take tram #3 at the stop "Frederik Hendrikplantsoen" direction "Muiderpoort" and get off on the 6th stop called "Museumplein". You can also walk there from Leidseplein.
