L'Auberge de Sedona has wonderful creekside dining if your looking for a nice dinner option. The restaurant has some basic lunch options and is located feet from one of the most beautiful parts of the creek. My absolute favorite is the Sunday brunch - while it is pretty pricey, it's an unforgettable and absolutely delicious experience. Did I mention the bottomless mimosas?

Neighborhood

HISTORY: The Doodlebug neighborhood was built around what was once a spacious ranch. This land was homesteaded in the late 1800's by the Chavez family and then by Ira Owenby. The original ranch house (which still stands and is just a few houses away from our property) was built with local river rock in a low in rambling ranch-style form. Tony and Marguerite Straude acquired the ranch in 1941. A really interesting historical fact connected to our neighborhood - is that Marguerite Straude commissioned the Chapel of the Holy Cross...which is a popular local historic landmark. She designed the building and the sculptures of the Chapel. This Chapel is one of the most visited spots in Sedona! The neighborhood today is lush with lots of mature trees. The nearby creek provides a serene and peaceful feeling. It allows guests to feel as if they are staying in a secluded retreat - while being extremely close to all the attractions, restaurants, and shopping Sedona has to offer! The nearby Poco Diablo Resort has beautiful large lush grounds with shade trees, ponds, and sitting areas. Our evening walks around the neighborhood always include visiting this local property.

Cathedral Rock may be the most popular photography hot spot Sedona has to offer and is less than 2 miles from the house. You’ll likely spot the rock formation as you explore Sedona, but you can’t beat getting an up-close view of the amazing site, in Red Rock State Park. This hike is a single mile-long loop, but the steep incline will get your heart pumping. Bring sturdy shoes and avoid climbing after the rain. Enjoy the vibrant mix of orange, reds, and lush greens flowing into the distance.

This stunning church was designed by sculptor Marguerite Brunswig Staude (a student of architect Frank Lloyd Wright) in the 1950’s. The main stained-glass window is held together by a giant cross and overlooks the Verde Valley. Visitors rave about the spectacular views and peaceful atmosphere. Head to this must see attraction early, as you may be faced with heavier crowds and limited parking later in the day. The Chapel of the Holy Cross is only 1.8 miles from the house.
